What I Have Been Learning

On Monday evening, Dick prompted us to think about what we might say to ourselves at the end of this program. Since I think a lot about how my heart finds satisfaction in all kinds of things such as food, success, convenience, ease of life rather than blessings bestowed on me by Jesus Christ, I asked myself if I am simply trading the idols of convenience and love for food for the idol of a skinnier me. My conclusion was God created my body and I have a responsibility to take care of the body he has given me. I also have the responsibility to not forgot the pursuit of godliness. My goal on Monday evening was to pursue them both. Little did I realize my desire to appear successful and having it all together would be challenged with activities such as marching and moving sideways across the floor. Thanks to all for the encouragement.

  1. That is one thing that helped me when I gain the conviction that this is a spiritual issue. God created my body to be used for His glory and I need to hae it in the shape that is most useful. My change has come from Him for a purpose (which I don't really fully know) and it is up to me to let Him work though it for His glory and seeing ways to use it to reach out to others and let God's light shine through it and me for His glory.
