I have to chuckle as I watch myself clutch the railings going up the stairs! While I find it quite amusing - my body is wee bit less amused! I smiled when I walked into the lunch room today and saw one of my BMSW friends (Gavin) stretching while his meal was warming up in the microwave. Totally get it!
Today we had the opportunity to baseline a 1 mile walk/run. I have to tell you - I have not run on my knee since my last surgeon appointment 16 years ago when I was told that to fix my knee it would entail breaking bones and bolting bones. In fact, I'm pretty sure the last time I had a timed mile was in gym class - a LOOOONNNNG time ago!
So today was a little nerve racking for me. Every competitive bone in my body wanted to burst out of the gate in glorious speed to the finish line. Reality, though, is always a little altered from that "picture perfect" scenario in our mind. I walked at my top speed the entire first lap while I contemplated if it would be safe to jog. I decided to try it. Guess what? I can jog on my knee - who knew???!!!???
I know this will be only be one of many surprises that I didn't know about myself. I can only imagine God chuckling and clapping His hands in delight as all of our teams uncover so many golden nuggets about themselves. Can you imagine His delight? Thank you Lord for all of the blessings you pour out on us! May Your Name be Glorified!
