I scored a 28... Average.
Here are my three lowest:
1. I avoid eating and drinking together at
mealtimes:
I’m not convinced this is a good thing. I always have water to drink with a
meal.
This caused me to do some research:
This caused me to do some research:
...according to Michael F Picco, M.D. and the MayoClinic: “There’s no concern that water will dilute the digestive juices or interfere with digestion. In fact, drinking water during or after a meal actually aids digestion. Water and other liquids help break down food so that your body can absorb the nutrients. Water also softens stools, which helps prevent constipation.” - Collective EvolutionOf course... that reminds me of the quote I read on the web..
2. I chew my food thoroughly, about 20 times per bite:
I’ve never counted or thought about how
many times I chew my food. I guess it would depend on what kind of food, I’m
not sure how I would chew a spoon of yogurt 20 times. Nonetheless, I will be conscious
of it moving forward.
3. I stop eating when I am full:
I think I am improving on this and will continue to do so. I feel I am able to
sense better when I am ‘full’ and should stop.
I thought eating and drinking meant something else. I always need something to drink with my meal - usually water, coffee or milk.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Who picked "20" anyway? What's wrong with 19 or 21??? Like yogurt, do you actually chew soup or pudding? Meanwhile, other foods like rhubarb might require more chewing (right, gavin?).
ReplyDeleteIt's the intent of the law, not the letter that's important. At least that's what I heard that Abraham Lincoln said. Now chew on that!
I hadn't heard the drinking before either :)
ReplyDeleteHaha you guys are cracking me up!! The drinking and eating doesn't apply to you all, I am sorry I neglected to take that out!! And it doesn't HAVE to be 20 times - the thought is to slow down and actually chew our food/be mindful of it as opposed to eating very quickly like it is so easy to do :)
