Back in August I had the good fortune to attend the Global
Leadership Summit simulcast here in Ft. Wayne.
There were many good speakers to enjoy and many “contraband” snacks to
avoid. It would be difficult if not
impossible to pick a favorite speaker so I will stick to one quote that has
bounced around in my head from time to time during BMSW3 and share it with
you.
John Maxwell opined that most people have an
interest in bettering themselves but just don’t know how to do it or even
identify what it is they need to do. He
suggested that people have “uphill hopes, but downhill habits”. If we in this program didn’t have uphill
hopes we wouldn’t be participating in this endeavor. By the same token if we didn’t have downhill
habits we wouldn’t feel the need to participate. Going forward let us not feel that we have
reached the summit and return to those downhill habits. Let us continue on that road of uphill hopes,
this time with uphill habits.
Love this!
ReplyDeleteI respect John Maxwell. Uphill hopes and downhill habits - very good.
