1 Week Down, 11 To Go!

When Saturday rolled around this past weekend, I had already decided to go to Spiece for my workout, but didn't really know what I was getting into when I entered Cecily's step aerobics class. When I saw everyone setting out steps and weights, I wanted to turn around and go back to my default workout of walking, stretching, and marching that we learned during week one. But Paula and Cecily convinced me to give it a chance.

One of my biggest hesitations was that my body just doesn't move fluidly, and I have historically been slow to get what I'll call "dance-like" movements quickly.

Overall, I did pretty well for my first venture into the class. Went about 20 minutes without stopping, then started to get a bad cramp under the arch of my left foot that wouldn't go away. That plus the confusing changes in the step routine started to really get me all mixed up, and I began breaking much more frequently, but stayed as long as I could stand to. Surely it worked me out hard and I felt it in my calves big time on Sunday.

I am noticing that nobody in my network of friends is short of advice to offer as I venture into a more healthier lifestyle. Dick came to my rescue when one of them when shared what has been working for him since last December. Jim meant no harm and understands that while in this program, I will follow the recommendations of our coaches.

This morning I met up with Dawn for a repeat of last Tuesday's routine at the gym. I noticed a greater ability to hold those Wall Squats and the pressure dizziness and headaches I had at the base of my skull last week were virtually all gone today. Must just be my body was in shock last week at what I was putting it through!

There are some changes I am beginning to notice about my body. It seems I am standing taller, less out of breath, and perhaps even a slight bit trimmer as my belt can be pulled one notch more than before we began BMSW3. This is good news!

Also, I am trying new foods. Today's was Rhubarb. Not a fan, but I downed two sticks of it with the help of some very expensive peanut butter (I mean expensive from a calorie budget standpoint, of course)!

  3. Glad you made it to Cece's class and survived. I told her my first year she was my Disney Ride. I never grew up a ride person but took my son to Disney a long time ago and did the rides for him. I ended up enjoying Tower of Terror and Splash Mountain. Whenever we go to Disney I look forward to doing those rides. Then I get into the line and ask myself why am I doing this. I then do the ride and am so glad I did it and want to do it again. That is how CeCe's classes were to me. All week long I would look forward to doing them. Then Saturday morning as I got up and drove in for them I asked myself why was I doing it when I didn't have to. I then did the class and though it was hard was always glad I did it.
