Last weekend the weather was nice so I came to Brotherhood to get my weekend miles in on the walking path instead of our treadmill at home. As I was making my way around the building I started thinking of the 10K. Sure, I could walk it with no problem but most people who sign up for something like that are there to run. We're supposed to be learning to run. So as I was going down the path I picked a spot a short distance out. I should be able to run from here to there, and I did. I walked awhile and then did it again at another spot. Over the course of my walking I had "running spots".
Today when I was on my first lap Rich came along side of me and we started talking. He mentioned something about was it the lungs or the legs that had trouble with the running. After awhile he took off running and I pondered which it was for me. In my short distances I wasn't gasping for air when I went back to walking so it must be my legs, right? My goal is to add a little distance to each running spot on the path. Maybe eventually I might actually be able to make it 1/4, 1/2, or all of the way around the building. We're not even at the half-way point of the program so here's hoping!
Good job Dave!!!
ReplyDeleteDave, you've changed so much already. I can see you running the 10K.
ReplyDeleteDave, I find myself doing the same thing - picking out a marker down the path to jog to. Seems like a worthwhile practice. Great job!
ReplyDeleteDave, Talking to you today I couldn't help but marvel at how MUCH you have improved already! You walking very leisurely when we first started and now you are jogging! You weren't willing to do a workout on the elliptical for the allotted time and today you Kick Jacob's BUTT by doing THREE minutes on it! I can't tell you how impressed I am with the progress you have made and excited to see how far you kick OTHER butts! Keep it up!
